Illustration assignment: illustrate a poem ... I think it was a Gustav Fröding. We were supposed to make two illustrations, so I took my sketch and cut it in half and made two images out of it. I think it works better in halves.
Maybe it's just me, but hello goodbye? Looks like a horror film, with a real stalker POV, with the second panel revealing the stalker is a tree - goodbye it says, before it does that Evil Dead thing
Yeah, a couple of people in my class said the same thing, that it looked like the tree was out to get her. In that respect I really failed at capturing the essence of the poem which was quite happy with lots of "spring time" stuff ... but other than that, well, a little drama never hurts an image.
It think it might be because the branches are so contrasted compared to other bits it gets straight in the eye. And when you squint the branches look like outstretched arms. It's great you know, so interesting to look at. I think one of the hardest things for an artist is to convey emotions which are hard to put into words. Theres probably whole studies about it
